It was a wonderful honour for Lucid to be crowned Gold Winner for Business of Year – over 50 employees at the SME MK and Buckinghamshire Business Awards, recently held at the DoubleTree by Hilton on 29th June.

To be recognised locally is particularly pertinent to the business as Lucid has celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022 and is a proud member of the Milton Keynes business community throughout its history. Lucid are thrilled with this award and looking forward to attending the SME National Business Awards 2022 in London this December.

The criteria for this award was based on 3 major entry’s; our (1) Business Strategy, (2) Sustainability and Growth, and finally, (3) our role within Milton Keynes.

    Each impacts our business and its success, and their input is continually valued and respected.

    We’re passionate about strategy and each of the aforementioned play a key role in maximising our business effectiveness, and fundamental achievements.

  • We understand our business impacts the environment and, as an accountable company, we want to operate in a way that’s as kind as possible to our planet.

    We’ve developed a robust carbon reduction plan which has already shown a measurable decrease in our impact on the environment, and which will take us to Net Zero by March 2027 (although we’re actually on target to achieve this in 2025).

    To support our sustainability and business goals, Lucid are formally certified in ISO: 14001 Environmental Management, ISO 9001 Quality Management and Cyber Essentials Plus.

  • We’re passionate about supporting our hometown, creating jobs inside and outside of Lucid for our local community.

    100% of our employees are based in the Milton Keynes area and we actively recruit and train local talent through an attractive apprenticeship model. Apprenticeships account for 42% of our employment to date, offering permanent careers to the people of Milton Keynes with development and support to grow.

    Our community is integral to our business model and our employees are actively encouraged to support community activities! We’re an active fundraiser for Willen Hospice and the Salvation Army, and we’ve also donated toys, books and DVD players to our local children’s hospital.

    Finally, to further support our town, we work with MK based suppliers and businesses wherever possible to source products and services essential to the smooth running of our operations, including local printers, graphic designers and web services
