JOB DESCRIPTION:

Data Strategist - SC Cleared - 3 months + - Hybrid-working

Lucid are currently working with a central government client who are looking to develop a Data Strategy, which will allow them to understand their data needs for the next 5 years, and work closely with Science Technology, Analysis and Research colleagues and key partners to ensure that they have the technical and analytical capabilities to meet their data needs. It will allow them to overcome age-old obstacles like siloed and poor-quality data, inefficient data management practices and unlock the full potential of data.

The data strategy will focus on understanding what data the group requires to be able to best serve the public, an understanding of what the best mechanisms are for acquiring or accessing the data and how to best harness the work that is already underway in this space with partners to achieve their goals.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Creation of a data strategy that incorporates the below as well as a roadmap of implementation.
  • Developing a centralised understanding of what data sets the programme owns and manages and how they can understand how to manage this data in a compliant way and a roadmap is developed to target any necessary remediations.
  • Using existing data landscapes to understand which existing data sets within policing and key partners would be of most value to the programme, by working with programme to identify key evidence gaps and what data is already collected through other mechanisms.
  • Develop an understanding of what data is not currently collected by partner agencies and would be of benefit to the programme.
  • Work with key partners to identify possible mechanisms of acquiring or accessing the data in the most efficient way. This may include identifying how the programme best expresses its needs to ongoing programmes of work within these partner agencies.
  • Develop an understanding wider departmental and cross-government work to develop data capabilities and how the programme can leverage existing programmes of work to achieve its goals.
  • Outline what work the group needs to resource from within to meet the key objectives of the strategy and outline what skills are needed within the group to be able to continually express its needs to key partners.
