JOB DESCRIPTION:

An urgent requirement has arisen for a Technical Engineer to assist with a large on prem decommission project based on our clients site in Leeds.  

 

This is a historical process to clean up some old servers (around 350 in total)

 

Below are the high level steps required – this is a complete list, and its likely that most servers will need some, but not other steps on this list.

 

We would obviously provide more details for the steps.

 

• Remove from Patch Manager
• Remove from Backup Radar
• Remove from Defender
• Remove from Azure (Subscriptions > IT Sentinel >  Resources) and check this has been removed from Azure ARC
• Remove from Nessus Scans
• Check if DNS Record is in use (ping) and if not, remove DNS record (both Host A record and PTR Reverse Lookup)
• Remove from Backup jobs
• Physical Server - Remove from iLO Amplifier
• Physical Server - Remove power cables
• Remove from Zabbix
• VM - Add a tag to the VM with the decommission date
• Physical Server - Plan for the hardware to be disposed of
• Virtual Server - Is this in Rubrik Cloud DR? If so, remove this.
• Check if there are any Firewall/NAT rules - request that our client remove these
• Change powered state in Backup Spreadsheet & add a comment with the final backup date
• Delete the server from AD
• VM - Delete the VHDs from storage

 

Azure basic skills as a minimum. Looking at between 3 and 4 weeks work, starting in the next couple of weeks. Please apply for further information
