JOB DESCRIPTION:

Network Architect – Network Redesign

 

 

A Network Architect is required to lead a comprehensive redesign of wired & wireless LANs, firewalls, and Network Access Control (NAC) for a multi-site UK-based client. The role involves assessing the current network infrastructure which consists of 500 switches and1800 wireless access points. The candidate will then be required to design a scalable and secure network solution. The candidate must have experience with Cisco, Meraki, and/or HP network solutions.

 

 

Responsibilities

• Network Assessment/Analysis: Conduct a detailed assessment of existing wired and wireless LANs, firewalls, and NAC solutions.
• Identify current network performance, scalability, and security issues.
• Develop a high-level network design addressing both wired and wireless LAN requirements, firewalls, and NAC.
• Ensure the design supports scalability, redundancy, and high availability.
• Ensure the wireless network supports the organisation existing RTLS.
• Create network diagrams, schematics, and documentation for the architecture.
• Develop network design specifications, including hardware models, software versions, configurations, and standards.
• Design network security architecture, incorporating firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, NAC, and other security measures.

 

Technical Skills

• In-depth knowledge of network architecture and design principles for both wired and wireless LANs.
• Proficiency with Cisco, Meraki, and HP networking technologies and protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and SD-WAN.
• Experience with network hardware (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points) from Cisco and HP.
• Expertise in network security technologies and principles, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and NAC.
• Industry certifications ideal:  CCIE, CCNP, or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in network design and architecture, particularly in multisite environments.
