Infrastructure Server Audit Engineer

Location: Essex (1 secondary + 4 primary schools)
Duration: 4 days on-site audit + 2 days report writing
Start Date: 26th May 2025 (May half term)
Day Rate: £350 + hotel expenses if needed
Requirement: Enhanced DBS (E-DBS) clearance
Urgency: Immediate start

 

Role Summary

We need an experienced Infrastructure Server Audit Engineer to conduct a fast-paced IT infrastructure audit across a Multi-Academy Trust in Essex. The audit will cover servers, wired/wireless networks, firewalls, filtering, and broadband connectivity. Findings will guide a major infrastructure upgrade project planned for summer.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit IT infrastructure across 5 schools (servers, networking, security, backup).
  • Focus on current Lenovo servers, Extreme Networks switching/wireless, and Redstor backup.
  • Identify risks, vulnerabilities, and improvement areas.
  • Engage with school IT teams with minimal disruption.
  • Deliver a clear, concise audit report with recommendations.

 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven IT infrastructure audit experience, ideally in education or public sector.
  • Knowledge of Lenovo servers, Extreme Networks, Redstor backup, firewalls, and broadband.
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.

 

Additional Info

  • All schools are close to each other in Romford.
  • Audit must take place during May half term (starting 26th May).
  • Hotel expenses covered if required.
  • Audit results will feed into a summer infrastructure project.
