Success Story – Apprentice To Service Delivery Lead
Ryan Mayfield has been an imperative member to the success and growth of the well-known IT/Tech Consultancy, Lucid Support Services, and as we reach our 20th year in business, Ryan surpasses his 10th year with the business, so we thought we would share his journey with you as he grew from one of our first Apprentices to our Service Delivery Lead.
Where It All Began
Back in 2009, as a young and ambitious individual, Ryan joined the Lucid team, which then consisted of just 4 people, alongside one other apprentice to make up the Resource team. Astoundingly, he managed to pass 2 apprenticeships in just 6 months! After progressing to Lead Resourcer within 18 months, Ryan left the business for a short period of time. However, 8 months into his retail management position, Ryan received a call from Lucid to come back as the first Junior Account Manager. This position was completely new and suited Ryan’s skills, and he was exactly what Lucid needed. After a few conversations, Ryan saw the investment Lucid had made and was continuing to make into new areas of the business; He was back at Lucid the very next week.
Account Manager to Senior Account Manager
In those first 3-4 years of being Lucid’s Account Manager, Ryan went from assisting with our SME customers, to managing our largest corporate customers, which he is still doing, to this day! As the company grew, and several more Account Managers joined the team, Ryan progressed to the Senior Account Manager, where he was very much seen as a team lead for the Account Manager’s, working alongside the Director of Service Delivery, helping to lead them in the right direction for a successful career at Lucid. Other responsibilities Ryan had as the Senior Account Manager was:
- Managing a large portfolio of consultants, engineers, and customers
- Leading, training, and advising the Talent Acquisition teams
Within the 6 years of being the Senior Account Manager, Lucid achieved and maintained #1 supplier status with a number of market leading organisations.
Business Reshuffle
In 2018, after a considerable amount of business growth, Lucid saw there was a need for a reshuffle, where a brand-new role was introduced, ‘Service Delivery Lead’ and Ryan was successfully appointed this position. As the Service Delivery Lead, Ryan has a cross functional role acting as the:
- Senior Account Manager for key customers across the organisation
- Assisting in the scope, management, and delivery of small-scale projects
- Lead the recruitment, management, and coordination of an SOW based consultancy programme
- Stakeholder management, Service Management, Service Reviews, Customer Analysis, and much more!
In 2020, Ryan put forward the need for investing in marketing and branding, which led to him setting up the structure for our Marketing department and bringing on Becca who has head up our Marketing ventures for the past 2+ years with the help and guidance of Ryan. They both work very closely with the Senior Leadership team to implement modern and strategic changes to our online and offline brand, implementing social media strategies, and helped oversee and aid the ‘modernisation’ and re-branding project, including website and digital presence optimisation.
To this day, Ryan has an active involvement in pretty much everything Lucid. From training and guiding junior members of staff, managing our corporate clients, leading our service delivery team, resourcing, chairing our internal ‘small council’ and events planning, all the way to actively lobbying hoodies at work!
Conclusion
Ryan is a trusted partner and strategic advisor to our senior leadership and board members, but he’s also that go to guy for our Service Delivery, Talent Acquisition, Marketing, and Operations teams… Not that they’d all like to admit it! 😉
You could say the past 10+ years have been good to Ryan and seen some very notable achievements within his Lucid career. But, as they say, the best is yet to come….
